The Irish Racing Team is a fusion of the relentless pursuit of higher
education and the Notre Dame championship tradition. The project focuses
on the development of fast and efficient electric vehicle propulsion
systems in an effort to promote and further the technology of
zero-emission vehicles. The team consists of Notre Dame faculty and
students that pursue the research, development, and design of electric
vehicle technology through building and competing an electric race car
with other universities across the country. Students take the skills
learned in the classroom and learn to apply them directly to a real
world project. The hands-on nature of the project and the excitement of
racing provide a unique educational experience that fosters student
participation in every aspect of the program. From the initial design
decisions to the final testing, installation and racing the vehicle,
students volunteer their own time to further the success of the team.
