This category includes operating systems for personal workstations, usually
with extensive graphic capabilities and designed for professional use. Many
of the systems are based on UNIX.

- MeDos
- Operating System for the Lilith Computer, developed by Niklaus Wirth
for Modula-2 programming. Early 1980s [Sand 1984].
- PERQ OS
- Original Operating system for the PERQ Computer. Three Rivers Computer
Systems. Early 1980s.
- PILOT
- Research workstation OS written in the MESA Language. Xerox Corp. Late
1970s [Redell et al 1980].
