This is a followup course for CS450, which examines advanced topics not covered in CS450. The approach is descriptive, based on various real example systems. The text is a continuation of the CS450 text. A variety of other resources is also used. The principal assignment is a term paper. There is no programming project.
Graduate students are welcome to register for this course. A limited number of 400-level courses may be included in a Master's degree Plan of Studies. CS 451 is very different from CS 550, which is a theory-oriented course.
This course is substantially equivalent to the course designated CS493k/CS591b/CpE591 offered during the Summer II 2002 term. Students who took that course should NOT register for CS 451.
Fall 2003, MWF 11:00-11:50. Instructor Jim Mooney. Further information TBD.
