Graduate Seminar Announcement
Title: Engineering and Science at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory
Speaker: Dr. Glen Langston (NRAO)
Date: Monday, Feb. 9, 2004
Time: 4:00-4:50 PM
Location: MER 113, WVU Evansdale Campus

Abstract: The NRAO in Green Bank is leading the development of a new receivers, digital data detectors and engineering models for large moving structures. These engineering marvels are used for Astronomical observations with the worlds largest fully-steerable radio telescope. Examples of recent scientific discoveries will be presented, which used the newly developed equipment. Recent examples include 3-D images of a nearby group of galaxies and producing ultra-high resolution radar images of pairs of meteors.
